School's (almost) out for summer!

Thursday is the last day of school.  Thank God!  I still have to teach 2 weeks of summer camp with one week in between for some ridiculous reason.  I actually really like camp because I only have to teach from 9-12 every day and then I can go home.  Even though, somebody has decided to make me teach in the daycare center with the 1st and 2nd graders again, camp should be pretty easy.  Normally, I am given a lot of freedom of what to do during camp, but since the daycare kids are so young, there's only so much to choose from (ABCs/Phonics/Numbers/Colors?).  I also have to teach 4th-6th, but they are apparently only doing writing this summer.  It will be pretty terrible for them, but writing games require very little prep time so not too bad for me.

After camp, I get 1 week of (unpaid) vacation!  Since I already used my remaining vacation days this year to go to the USA in May, I decided to take unpaid days off instead of coming to sit at school alone all week.  Instead, I'm going to Japan!  I'll be visiting Osaka and Kyoto for the week.

YAY no regular school for a month!

Sesame Street: Share It Maybe

Rainy Season..

Rainy season in Seoul has begun!  It's been the best rainy season ever.  It has barely rained at all!  It was actually sunny both days last weekend.  Unheard of.  Apparently, it's not supposed to rain that much this year compared to last year when it literally rained every single day for 2 months.  Also, even though the forecast is calling for rain for the next week, it's been raining just a little bit each day instead of all day and all night.  This is awesome news for me because last year, the rain soaked through the walls of my apartment right next to my bed.  I'm hoping that won't happen this year.

Last weekend, my friends and I took advantage of the rare sunny July weekend at 2 of the local swimming pools.  Public pools in Seoul are amazing because 1) they cost 5,000won to get in and 2) you can probably count the number of guys WITHOUT a 6-pack on 1 hand^^

Whose Dung is it?

One of my students just shit his pants during class..literally.  All the other kids were holding their noses and everyone knew what was up, but nobody did anything about it!  He spent the last 15 minutes of class trying not to let his butt touch the chair.  My co-teacher must have known...so why didn't she tell him to go to the bathroom?!  Ohh Korea.

Golden Birthday

It was my birthday last week!  In fact, it was my one and only Golden Birthday aka 27 on the 27th.  I did lots of celebrating throughout the week.

Last weekend, some friends and I went to Muuido to stay at a pension and sit on the beach.

On my actual birthday, I was able to leave school after lunch to go get my once a year contractual health check done.  Of course, I was finished by 3:30 and swung by Home Plus for some wine 3 for 20,000.  Afterwards, my 3 friends who also got their health checks done came to my house to play cards and sit on my floor.  Then, I rounded out the night with a nice dinner of Korean bbq.

Lastly, on Saturday, we went to TGIF (yep yep, nothing but class here) for happy hour!
